Thiruvananthapuram: Rural District Police on Friday broke the gang engaged in drugs and marijuana peddling at tourist resorts throughout the state.
The police arrested nine gang members and the owner of a resort in Varkala after a surprise attack.
The police have also confiscated 7.36 kilograms of marijuana and 0.9 grams of MDMA, dangerous synthetic drugs, from the defendant after RAID was carried out at Jungle Cliff Resort in Varkala.
The police also won the weight balance, alleged to weigh marijuana.
The people arrested were identified as Shaiju alias Sanju, 37, from Mavunmoodu, Wisnu, 25, from Mundayil, Nadirshah aka Nacha, 24, from Srinavasapuram, Salim, 18, from Srinivasapuram, Salman, 30, Odayam, Nishad, 21, from Kuramandal, Krishna Priya, 21, from Vattachal, Ashiq, 23, from Mannara, Salman, 27, from Kuranjilakkad and Sandesh, 25, from Bhothakulam.
Police said Salman of Odayam was the resort owner.
He was arrested for facilitating gang operations by offering the resort for transactions.
He took a commission from the gang for his help.
The gang uses Krishna Priya as an operator to avoid being examined by law enforcers while carrying contraband goods.
