Gurugram: The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has chosen at least 106 intersections in the city for changes that will make them safer for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists, officials said on Monday.
These steps, officials hope, will also help in better traffic management.
Changes in the consideration of GMDA include the creation of zebra crossings, lane paintings and median markers, and regulates Bollard traffic where needed.
This problem was raised for discussion during the latest meeting of core planning cells (BPK) from GMDA.
According to Privy officials for this problem, the Chief Executive Officer GMDA (CEO) Sudhir Rajpal has directed the wings of the mobility to take such changes in around 40 crossings in the first phase of priority, after the same can be replicated at other intersections in the city too.
“At present, the plan is being considered and is awaiting approval.
It requires taking a few steps of small road safety at the intersection,” said a senior GMDA official at the request of anonymity.
This plan is the latest in many steps carried out by authority to improve mobility in the city and travel and travel well smoother and safer.
In addition to executing such small changes, GMDA also considered a variety of crossings and intersections throughout the city, such as Bakhtawar Chowk and Junction near the GMDA office, to keep pedestrians and cyclists and gave them facilities to cross from one end to end to end to tip.
.
Recently, GMDA has executed engineering changes along various stretches in the city too.
It has floated tenders to improve the main stretch such as Saint Felipe Marg, Vikas Marg near sector 49, road 11 kilometers between the border of Dhankot Chowk and Delhi / Haryana, and a two kilometer stretch that runs through connectivity between Sirhaul Toll and the Border of Kapashera.
Residents, meanwhile, said such plans would bring very much needed assistance in the city they claim had little infrastructure to support pedestrians or non-motorized transportation.
“I chose to rent a house in phase 5 in other parts of the city because I believe everything market, mall and metro will be accessible.
However, the lack of facilities for pedestrians makes me impossible to move without motorized vehicles, both public or private.
Even if the purpose I was only fifteen minutes away, I chose to use vehicles just because it could be very dangerous to walk.
If they use safety steps at a critical intersection and people obey them, it will be a big help for pedestrians and will also reduce the problem For motorists, “said Nirmal Bakshi, Resident DLF Phase 5.
