Gurgaon: With the intention of increasing the cover of trees in the district, Gurgaon will soon have ‘Panchvatis’ in 193 villages.
These panchavatis are traditionally gardens consisting of five trees – Peepal, Banyan, Bel, Amla and Ashoka.
This plant has environmental, religious and drug significance.
Drive is part of a broad program.
For this, land is being identified in every village in the district.
The village land special area will be used as a stand for Panchvatis.
“We have started the job.
This Panchvatis will be planted in every direction – Peepal will be planted is East, Banyan in the north, the bell in the middle, Amla in West Trees and Ashoka in the south,” said Rajeev Tajyan, Gurgaon, Gurgaon.
“It will be developed near ponds, temples, and public areas in all Gurgaon villages.
We have spoken with several villages about this project,” he said, adding that villagers would protect and maintain them.
Meanwhile, Gurgaon on Sunday observed Van Mahotsav and planned to plant 15 lakh tillers this year.
Of these, around 1.5 lakh the puppies will be planted by the Ministry of Forestry while the rest will be planted with public cooperation, various institutions, and organizations in the district.
The function is held on Sunday to mark the 72nd Mahotsav van throughout Haryana.
Minister of Manohar Minister Lal Khattar also launched an e-pathshala application through video conferencing.
This application will help people know which puppies are available where nurseries and helps geo-tag plants.
