Mumbai: Unit Maharashtra Congress on Thursday demanded a judicial investigation monitored by the Supreme Court to the alleged reconnaissance of politicians and journalists by spyware Pegasus Israel.
The delegation of the Congress leaders led by the Head of the State Unit of the Party Nana Patole met the Governor of Bhagat Singh Koshyari and handed over his memorandum of this request.
It is said that the tendency of reconnaissance is the abuse of modern and harmful technology for democracy, and clarification from the central government is not satisfactory.
“It is necessary to know who in India took Pegasus services and ordered the reconnaissance of opposition leaders,” said the memorandum.
The party said Pegasus stated that the Government Sovereign hired their software for national security and against terrorism.
“Who gave permission to spy on the four pillars of democracy in India?” The party asked in a memorandum.
A recent international media consortium reported that more than 300 verified cell phone numbers, including two ministers, more than 40 journalists, three opposition leaders in addition to a number of people and activists in India can be targeted to hack using software / spyware pegasus.
The government has rejected the allegations of all types of supervision in its parts to certain people, said it “does not have a concrete base or truth associated with it”.
