Pegasus Spyware: Senior journalist moved the Supreme Court to seek an independent investigation into the allegations of the Snooping Government

New Delhi: Veteran Journalist N RAM and Sashi Kumar has transferred the Supreme Court to seek an independent investigation by a sitting or retired judge into a report on government institutions using the Israeli spyware pegasus to allegedly lurk on citizens, politicians and scribe.
The petition, the possibility of coming to hear in the next few days, looking for an investigation into a cellphone hacking using Pegasus Spyware which says it represents efforts by institutions and organizations for the muzzle and chill free speech exercises and expression differences of opinion in India.

The applicant claims that investigations involving several leading publications around the world have revealed that more than 142 Indians, including journalists, lawyers, ministers, opposition politicians, and activists, have been identified as potential targets to monitor Pegasus software.
Forensic analysis by the security lab Amnesty International from several cellphones, belonging to the people targeted for supervision, has confirmed Pegasus-induced security violations, claimed petitions.
“Targeted supervision using military class spyware is an unacceptable violation of privacy rights that have been considered as fundamental rights under Article 14 (equality before law), 19 (freedom of speech and expression) and 21 (personal life and liberty protection) by the Court Agung, “he added.

The petition said the hacking of cellphones using Pegasus Spyware is a crime that can be punished under Section 66 (computer-related violations), 66b (punishment because dishonestly receive computer resources or stolen communication devices), 66E (Punishment for privacy violations) and 66F (punishment for cyberterrorism) from IT laws, can be punished by prison and / or fine.
“The prime attack of facie is a cyber-terrorism that has several political consequences and the security of the grave, especially given that the government’s ministers, senior political figures and constitutional officials that may contain sensitive information have been targeted,” he added.
Previously, another petition was submitted by a lawyer before the APEX court was looking for an investigation monitored by the court by a special investigation team (sitting) into a row of scouts.
