New Delhi: Cost Tarning from Strategic Chardham Street Project is almost Rs 65 lakh per day because the works are jammed because cases are delayed in the Supreme Court, according to estimates prepared by the government.
Toi has learned that the cumulative cost overrun approaches Rs 240 Crore in the past year.
This project was stuck when the peak court heard a case filed against road transportation and the Ministry of Raya which accused the violation of environmental norms for this project.
The court has not given its verdict on the width of the strategic road project, which extends near the Chinese border in Uttarakhand.
Recently, the Cabinet Secretary has asked all departments to consult with lawyers and the state government concerned for resolving effective courts, which influence large infrastructure projects and also cause losses to value.
At least 93 infrastructure projects are influenced because of court orders and they have related costs around Rs 14,700 Crore, said the source.
Toi has known that the Chardham road project is divided into 53 works and 40 of them with a cumulative length of 672 km have been approved for RS 9,475 Crore.
Of the 40 sanctions works, 38 has been awarded, which has a total length of 646 km.
One job has been taken over based on technical unfibutities and the remaining requires a revision of the project report based on the final decision about the width of the road.
The source said nine ongoing work had a total length of 170km had been postponed because the SC decision was delayed in connection with the finalization of Lewan wide and also a detailed project report of 11 jobs that had a total length of 162 km had been postponed.
