Pengh Tiger was injured in a hit-and-run at NH7

Nagpur: In the case of hit-and-run, adult male tiger (T1) of Chorbahuli Mansinghdeo various wildlife sanctuaries in Pench Tiger Reserve, also known as ‘Mystery Men’, was injured on Tuesday.
tiger allegedly been hit by speeding vehicles either at night or during the hours when crossing NH7.
The incident was revealed around 10:15 when a family, who were traveling to Nagpur from Narsinghpur to treat his son, had stopped close to the guide wall near Paoni present call of nature.
A woman of the family, aged about 58, went away a little in the woods and did not have any idea about who was lying wounded tiger.
He learned about the tiger when it attacked him.
Hearing her scream, her husband, who was about 64, rushed towards him but he was also attacked.
Both suffered minor injuries and was treated at a private hospital in the city and returned home in the evening.
Nagpur deputy conservator of forests Bharat Singh Hada said the tiger was tranquillized by a team of veterinarians from Transit Treatment Center, Seminary Hills, and shifted to Gorewada.
“It seems to be the case hit the road.
This incident should occur at night and tigers can not walk because of injury.
The place where the tiger was found is fdcm forest, “said Hada.
Deputy director of Wildlife Research and Training Center said Dr Vinod Dhoot tiger 10 years is very important as the back of his left leg had been fractured.
“We have been given a pain killer, salts and antibiotics,” he added.
This is the second incident in the last three years involving a tiger in a traffic accident.
On February 2, 2019 tiger was badly injured after a speeding car crashed near the village Harnakund animals.
The latest incident has again brought to the front steps of wildlife is limited mitigation, reduced under political pressure.
Milind Pariwakam, ecology and road transport working group members of IUCN-Connectivity Conservation Specialist Group, said repeatedly this accident was due to lack of fences and noise barriers as a means to reduce the negative impact of NH7.
“NGO Srushti Paryavaran Mandal has suggested this in February 2016 but they were not accepted by the high court,” he said.
Pariwakam added, “In February 2019 I had suggested the inclusion of fencing and noise barriers, but this was rejected by the then chief wildlife warden NH Kakodkar.” ecology say Madhya Pradesh forest department supported these demands and got 42km of the fence and carried the sound barrier, making the mitigation measures that are safer for wildlife.
“Maharashtra Forest Department should learn from these actions.
We need only about 17km from the fence to make us more effective mitigation structures, “he added.
Udayan Patil of Srushti Paryavaran Mandal said, “WII scientists and forest department officials who forgot to include these measures initially while clearing the project and then rejected suggestions responsible for the death of wild animals.
Each tiger was taken from the wild population is similar to the case of poaching.
” This incident shows how bad the mitigation measures have been implemented.
In 2012, a Wildlife Institute of India (WII) report has suggested 48 structures in NH7.
It includes 16 underpasses, 15 bridges and 17 culverts.
However, due to political pressure, WII itself reduce mitigation measures for two 750 meter and the 300 meter underpass.
However, WII survey in 2020 revealed that there was a 127% increase in the use of the wildlife underpasses.
2019, 155 crossings by tigers were recorded while in 2020, 352 crossings were recorded.
