WASHINGTON: Pentagon said on Tuesday there was no change so far in his plan to meet the deadline of President Joe Biden’s evacuation for Afghanistan at the end of the month and it intends to attract US troops at that time.
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said the Pentagon believed that it had the ability to get all Americans who wanted to leave Afghanistan on August 31.
“We really aim towards the end of the month,” said Kirby, adding that the Pentagon.
It may require an additional base to accommodate Evakary from Afghanistan.
Furthermore Kirby said “several thousand” Americans have been evacuated from Afghanistan but refused to give a more specific number.
He also said he could not give the percentage of Americans in Afghanistan who have now been evacuated.
“The direction of the President has completed this withdrawal, this evacuation, on August 31.
That is the direction we operate below and therefore, which encourages many of our plans,” Kirby said.
“You heard the national security advisor said yesterday that he believed that we could achieve this mission at the end of the month, so we still drove towards the end of the month.
That’s where we are now.
If and when there is a change that we will definitely explain to Americans, “He said.
The new Taliban rulers Afghanistan said on Tuesday they want all foreign evacuations from the country equipped with August 31 deadlines and they will not approve an extension when the seven groups meet to discuss the crisis.
West troops have worked panicked to get foreigners and Afghans to planes and abroad and Biden have faced pressure growing from allies to negotiate more time for airlift.
