Tel Aviv: Someone who is in Israeli Prime Minister Naphtali Bennett returns from the United Arab Emirates has been tested positive for Covid-19, the Prime Minister’s office on Tuesday.
Bennett returned to Israel on Monday from a historic two-day trip to the Arab Bay country, the first by Israeli leaders to the country, who recently normalized bond with Israel.
He was in quarantine three days on Tuesday according to the Ministry of Health Regulations, which required all travelers back, even those who were vaccinated, to isolate themselves.
He was expected to take the Coronavirus test on Wednesday, also in line with health regulations, and then ended his desk if he tested negatively, said the Prime Minister’s office.
Bennett’s office does not determine who the person is tested positively.
Bennett was intended to be accompanied by Phalanx Israeli and foreign journalists and a large group on the visit.
But the day before his departure, journalists were told that because of concerns over Omicron, the new Coronavirus variant, they would not join and that Bennett’s entourage would be down.
Because the Omicron strain appeared, Israel had sealed its borders to foreign travelers and placed boundaries abroad that flew abroad.
This has forbidden trips to all countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and provide quarantine requirements for all returning travelers.
The Journey of Bennett this week to the UAE came against the background of nuclear talks between the world’s power and Archrival Regional Iran on its ragged nuclear agreement.
The trip also strengthened the normalization agreement signed by Israel and the UAE under Abraham’s agreement ordered by the US, who also saw similar agreements between Israel and Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco.
