Chennai: Now, city residents over the age of 80 can be vaccinated against Covid-19 in their homes.
Civic’s body on Saturday said the qualified beneficiaries can contact personnel at 044-25384520 and 044-46122300 to regulate home vaccination.
A similar targeted drive is done to get their second covaxin dose recipient.
Meanwhile, eight of 15 city zones reported a surge in active Covid-19 cases during the past week, the larger Chennai Corporation data was revealed.
However, the total active city case has decreased by around 24 cases from August 13 to August 20.
Manali, Tondiaji, Royapuram, Aljamantur, Anna Nagar, Teynampet, Adyar and Perungudi recorded an increase in active infection with Anna Nagar reported the sharpest increase.
From 249 on August 13 to 330 on August 20.
Anna Nagar is also a single zone with more than 300 active cases.
Kodambakkam is the only other zone with more than 200 cases.
But active cases here decrease from 260 to 218 in the same period.
All zones in the northern region have less than 100 active cases with Manali report only 25 active cases.
The Civic body is conducting intense contact searches to identify clusters.
On Friday, around 29,000 city residents got their shots.
Kodambakkam Zone (3,060) above on the maximum shot given while the lowest is in Manali (920).
Corporate sources say there has been a good response to vaccination every time Covishield stocks are available.
The corporation also started a vaccination drive targeted at the slum boarding house.
It was held 315 such a special camp for the past week which included 24,000 people, said a statement.
