Ludhiana: To make voters and staff aware of the election photo identity card (EPIC) and 11 alternative documents that can be used on the election day by voters to vote, District Election Officer – Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana Varinder Kumar Sharma on Monday said the Indian Election Commission (ECI) has enabled the use of epic or 11 alternative identity documents for voters to vote them.
In addition to the epic, known as the Voter Card in General Language, 11 other alternative identity cards prescribed by ECI are passports, SIMs, service identity cards with photographs issued for employees by the Central / State / Psu / Public Limited Governments, books Pass issued by banks / post offices have photos, PAN cards, smart cards issued by RGI under NPR, MGNREGA cards, health insurance smart cards issued by the Ministry of Manpower, Pension Documents with photos, identity cards issued by MP / MLC or MLC or MLC or Aadhaar cards.
Sharma appealed to voters to bring the most authentic identity card and a choice which is an epic identity card or voter as the first choice because all voters have issued their epic card.
DC also clarified that voter slip has been prepared but cannot be accepted as an identity card for voting.
People must carry a voter card or an ECI approved photo ID
