Coimbatore: Although the vaccine made by Russia, Sputnik is being offered in several hospitals and health care centers in the city, ordering slots on the Cowin portal to get a vaccine to be almost impossible.
Many people, especially those who have to go abroad to work or learn, prefer vaccines because both shots can be taken within a month.
It is also recognized by most countries.
City-based Srinivasan Kanchana has entered the Cowin Portal for the past week, trying to get a slot for sputnik vaccination.
“I tried to order a slot at the GKNM Hospital and AGS Healthcare.
At first I tried randomly, then based on the hospital’s recommendation, entering from 5.55 PM, only to be rejected,” he told Toi.vaishnivi Lekha, who tried to make her husband a slot , also face the same problem.
“We have tried to get a slot for the past one week.
Every time we log in, he said there was no slot available.
We then tried to contact the hospital directly.” The hospital, however, said that getting a slot on Cowin was mandatory.
“This is a state government government that must be given Sputnik only based on the slot on the website.
While we agreed that the slot was more than a few minutes, we got 70-80 people a day ordering an appointment on the portal,” said a spokesman for the GKNM Hospital.
Rasi Hospital in R S Puram offers to help people who have pre-registration on the Cowin portal for vaccines.
“If people have pre-registration and come in groups, we can help them get slots, jabs, and certificates,” said Jayaram from the hospital.
“Many people prefer sputnik because of high efficiency reports and second-dose settlement in a short time.
They say sputnik is the most effective among all vaccines.”
