Coimbatore: Citizens of Periyar Nagar in Kalatti have taken 66 Sen Open Space Reserve (OSR) of land with the help of City Corporation.
The layout of 12.14 hectares, which was approved by the Civic Agency 30 years ago, has 138 housing plots.
But land OSR, reserved for parks or recreational purposes, sold to 10 people immediately after getting approval.
Periyar Nagar Residents recently approached activist S p Thiyagarajan who was seeking his help to take land.
“While getting approval from the local body, it was shown that five cents were allocated to Borewell, 47 cents for parks, 66 cents for community halls and 13 cents for stores according to the rules.
While 47 centers were taken over to the construction of government schools, 66 cents sold.

Meanwhile, corporate officials founded the board in two land OSR in the extension of Sivakami Nagar in the Western Zone on Wednesday to take 35 cents.
