Coimbatore: Citizens of Periyar Nagar in Kalatti have taken 66 sea space cent (OSR) worth Rs 10 Crore with the help of Coimbatore Corporation.
The 12.4 acre layout was approved in 1985 and was approved for 138 housing plots after showing 10% of the total area as OSR.
Of the total land of OSR, 66 cents were allocated to Community Hall, 13 cents for shop construction and five cents for Borewell.

The layout promoter prepares images for 66 cents of the soil allocated for community hall as if it is a new layout and gets approval from the pancayat.
Then, the area was annexed to City Corporation and the land was sold to 10 people.

A team led by the Assistant Planning Officers East Zone City Bhuvaneshwari examined the land on Tuesday.

The corporation installs a board that claims ownership of land.
Land cut off was revealed because they were not protected, said Thiyagarajan.
“The Civic body must take steps to develop a park to check encroachment.
Strict action must be taken against shrimp,” he said.
