Mumbai: The Maharashtra Government will establish a permanent base camp from the National Disaster Response (NDRF) in Mahad in Raigad.
The government’s resolution to distribute 2.57 hectares of land belonging to the milk development department to establish the base was issued on Wednesday.
Landslides report in Taliye Village where more than 80 people have died in Mahad Taluka themselves.
Officials said that there was a NDRF base in Mumbai and Pune, but the state government planned to establish a base camp in the Conkan area which often reported the tragedy related to rain.
During the flood last week in Konkan District, the locals accused that there was a delay of the NDRF team reaching the site for rescue operations.
