Thiruvananthapuram: With a housing scheme at Rajaji Nagar does not make progress, Civic’s body is eyeing private land to provide beneficiaric transit accommodation.
This project was launched in 2020; But the work cannot begin as beneficiaries disagree with the authorities about transit accommodation.
As a new plan, a 1.5-hectare private land has been identified at the Bakery Junction behind the gas station.
The local self-department and corporations have begun steps to buy or obtain property.
Given the location of the land, it is estimated that it will cost for the Civic body; But officials see long-term prospects have land in prime locations.
The work at Rajaji Nagar was inaugurated in October 2020 by former Minister of LSG A C Moiden.
This project was given to the company in September 2020 and the work is expected to be completed in 24 months.
The beneficiaries of the housing scheme are reluctant to leave the residence region today regardless of dilapidated flat conditions because their livelihoods are centered around the colony.
As per the latest status, the site cannot be submitted to the company because of many problems.
Beneficiaries are reported to request enhanced monthly remuneration during the transit period.
In addition, they demanded a residential unit for every family who currently live together in a house.
Many beneficiaries also demand transit accommodation in their choice.
All of these factors currently stop the project.
