After the Covid-19 vaccine Pfizer received the full agreement of the Food and Drug Administration earlier this week, the drug company has now submitted a booster dose of a two-shot vaccine.
The drug maker said on Wednesday that it had begun the application process for the third dose of the vaccine for people aged 16 years and over.
The company added it would complete the application with food and drug administration at the end of this week.
The company’s steps followed the announcement by US health officials last week planned to give a Covid-19 booster shot to all Americans to sustain their protection in the midst of a surged Delta variant.
Officials said it was “ very clear ” that vaccine protection against Covid-19 infection was reduced from time to time.
The Pfizer vaccine received full FDA approval earlier this week; It has been used since last December under emergency use authorization.
Three vaccines used in the US made by Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson still prevent hospitalization and death.
But the vaccine did not seem strong enough against the Delta variant which was very contagious because they opposed the previous version of the virus.
Earlier this month, US regulators say transplant receivers or other people with a weakened immune system can obtain extra pfizer doses or moderna vaccines.
