Washington: Pfizer plans to argue for the use of a Covid-19 booster shot during a Monday meeting scheduled with US health officials, Washington Post has reported, citing companies and sources.
Previously in a week, Pfizer and Biontech promised to provide US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Medicine Agency with information about the third dose of the coronavirus vaccine was seen as a booster of their medicine.
However, the Ministry of Health and US human services rebuked the idea, dismissing the need for the current booster shot.
Among the officials who were invited to the briefing were our heads in infectious diseases Anthony Fauci, Director Nih Francis Collins, Director of CDC Rochelle Walensky, acting Commissioner FDA Janet Woodcock, General Vivek Surgeon Murthy and David Kessler, Head of Science for Covid-19 response.
However, it is not clear who will truly attend the meeting, which itself can be postponed.
Last week, Jeffrey Zients, the White House Coronavirus response coordinator, told CBS News that the United States was ready to use Covid-19 booster shots so experts suggested doing so.
