New Delhi: There seems to be another obstacle in the implementation of the Delhi government’s plan to rebuild Chandni Chowk to the tourist center.
On Friday, the Public Works Department said that phase II of rebuilding inheritance stretches where building facades and other infrastructure must be transformed due to lack of funds.
After the settlement of the phase I project, where the Chandni Market area Chowk received a facelift, PWD was scheduled to start work for the second phase in December.
“In Phase II, which worked starting from December, all buildings on the stretch of Chandni Chandni 1.4 km were to get the removal of the facade.
But like some other PWD projects stopped because of the lack of funds, this project was also embarrassed by financial constraints,” the pwend expression on Friday.
In phase 2, regardless of the recovery of the old building facade in Boulevard, the internal pathway in areas such as Ballimaran, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Road, Netaji Subhash Road and the Jama Mosque must be restored.
PWD officials blamed the Shahjahanabad Redevelopment Corporation (SRDC), the Nodal Agency for rebuilding projects, for delays in funding sanctions.
Toi has documents from the October 8 board of directors’ meetings, who also see the participation of PWD officials, where resolutions emphasize, “SRDC will fund and monitor the implementation of street repairs, restoration of buildings in Chandni Chowk and the rebuilding of the Precinct Mosque of Jama.” Srdc officials, including directors Implementing Garima Gupta and Deputy General Manager (Project and Administration), were contacted several times for their response, but they were still available for comments.
This project aims to restore Delhi’s legacy area and revive Mughal aesthetics from these locations.
