With students who attend many of their classes online, the practical aspects of their courses have been hit hard.
For institutions, doing online classes for the theory part is easy, but holding practical sessions is not an easy task.
To make students get used to the practical aspects, the Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE), Gwalior, started condensed courses for students last year.
“Being aware of the learning gap, we decided to start condensed courses for our students who should have graduated this year after the first wave subsided in January,” said Arvind Singh Sajwan, Registrar, Lnipe.
The Institute must stop condensed courses after the second wave of Covid-19 grips the country in March-April.

“As part of the course, students are taught the practical aspects of their courses comprehensively,” said Sajwan.
The tendency of students to physical education courses in the post-pandemic world has not affected the registration in a new academic session.
“We used to approach 4000-5000 applications for 100 undergraduate seats.
Competition continues to be difficult to enter PG, PhD and other courses,” said Sajwan.
This year, the National Testing Agency (NTA) was conducting an acceptance test for LNIPE on August 14.
Changes in the year of criteria, given the health crisis, LNIPE did not do physical tests to enter.
“Selected candidates in the written test are offered final receipts based on participation certificates in various activities,” said B Basumatary, Dean, North East Regional Center (NERC) Lnipe in Guwahati.
For this year, they have decided to call students by staggering for physical fitness tests to enter.
“Providing acceptance based on certification will not be ideal because all sports and related events are not held,” said Basumatary, which added that candidates need to bring negative RT-PCR reports to appear for physical fitness testing.
