PIL IN SC Challenges Bombay HC Circular Reducing Working Hours Due to Covid Case Increase

New Delhi: A request has been submitted at the Supreme Court to challenge the Administrative Round of the Bombay High Court at 12 noon-3pm working hours during the working day due to a Covid case increase.
The Bombay High Court Administration Committee has come out with the standard operating procedure (SOP) and in accordance with the decision, the High Court will function from 12 noon to 3 in the afternoon without a lunch break from Monday to Friday from 11 January.
PIL has been submitted by Advocates Ghanshyam Upadhyay who is looking for a roundfront, issued on January 10, by saying “unrealistic” decisions and “does not make sense.” Requests also seek virtual hearings in all courts in Maharashtra.
“Hon’ble courts may be happy to direct the High Court, Bombay to ensure that all trials in the state are made to function full time through a virtual platform by placing guidelines for the same thing as the method and / or procedure as a High Court can be considered suitable And it is appropriate for objects to avoid the physical appearance of lawyers / Wangigant but without sacrificing / limiting the court time / hour of court working in the state of Maharashtra, “said the application.
The request said lawyers and existing experts faced difficulties due to reduced working hours.
“Their fundamental rights are threatened and violated, which is a big problem and a large public interest,” he said.
Pills also challenged the decision to change working hours from a lower court in Mumbai, Pune, Raigad, Alibaug and Thane between 11am and 4pm with a 50 percent staff attendance every day on rotation.
The Supreme Court recently recorded a sudden surge in the number of Covid-19 cases and decided to hear everything in virtual mode from January 7 and benches sitting in the Judge’s housing office.
The top court has become a hearing case through video conferencing since March 2020 because of a pandemic and has relaxed or tightened the conditions from time to time by remembering the changing pandemic situation.
