Pilot survey in Gurgaon to assess the cause of visual disorders

Gurgaon: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, will conduct a five-day survey in the city in connection with the Gurgaon Health Department to understand the causes of visual disorders and blindness.
The rapid assessment of the visual impairment survey that can be avoided (RAAVI), where nearly 6,000 people will be borne, it will begin on Tuesday.
As many as 30 clusters have been identified for exercises.
“This is a pilot survey and will be carried out in other districts in the country if it produces positive results here,” said Deputy Civil Surgery Isha Narang.
Six teams, each consisting of three members, will visit the household, ask residents to fill out the questionnaire and conduct eye examinations.
They will upload data to a cellular application, Raavi application, which has been developed by AIIMS for surveys.
This exercise will ensure visual results after cataract surgery among cases operated and assess coverage for cases of bias and glaucoma errors, childhood blindness, retinal detachment and diabetes retinopathy.
“The team will conduct a survey from the door to the door in the district.
In the case of people have undergone cataract surgery in the past, the effectiveness will be assessed by the team,” said Dr.
Virender Yadav, Chief Medical Officer, Gurgaon.
Officials said this survey aims to determine the prevalence and causes of eye defects and cataracts, which contributed to the maximum number of cases of blindness in this country.
“The six team will discuss 1,200 people in a day,” said Praveen Vashist, responsible for Ophthalmology Community, AIIMS, New Delhi.
