Madurai: The Madras High Court Frames FIR registered by the Thanjavur District Police against the Tamil PA Ranjith film director for his controversial comments at King Rajaraja Cholan in 2019.
Justice G Ilangovan allowed the petition submitted by Ranjith before Madurai Bench 2019, looking to cancel the FIR that registered against it by Thiruppaanandal police.
The prosecution case was that the applicant participated in a meeting held by the Neellapuligal movement on June 5, 2019 and delivered a speech related to land rights during the Cholan King Rajaraja period.
In his petition, Ranjith stated that the core of his speech was about how to remove the cashier and how to create the people of Deakoles.
His speech is also about how people in the Delta area don’t have land.
He stated that his intention was not to influence the sentiments of certain communities or religious groups of people but only voiced that supported those who were harmed.
He expressed his intention to bring awareness among people.
Therefore, he tried to cancel Fir which registered against him.
During the previous hearing, the court continued to submit a chargesheet submission in this case.
Previously in 2019, the court provided anticipatory guarantee to Ranjith in this case.
