Pink line for a safe trip of women

Vadodara: Formed 107 years ago in the State of Baroda Istama, an institute by Maharani Chimnabai Gaekwad, Maharaja’s wife Ijoo Gaekwad, aimed at raising the living conditions of poor women and also empower them financially.
Continuing the Crusade for the benefits of women even a century later, Shree Maharani Chimnabai Stree Udyogalaya (MCSU) will soon launch the pink line – to help women travel safely in the city.
For this, it will train women to drive four-wheeled vehicles and heavy public transport vehicles.
“Women use large amounts of public transportation.
But very few female drivers who find opportunities in male dominated jobs.
However, we want to bring change in the thought process.
Our institution will launch a training program where women can learn to drive cars, automatic rickshaws and heavy vehicles, “said Radhikaraje Gaekwad, Trustee and Vice President Mcsu.
“Many women have to face sexual harassment in public transport and the horrors of fresh NIRBHaya rape cases in public memory.
Having more women as drivers in public transport will ensure the security of female passengers.
This is my dream project,” said Radhikaraje toi.
Scion Kingdom further states that MSCU services will not end with women’s training but will be expanded to get their help with bank loans and driving licenses.
“Our focus will initially be in women who have lost their family members during Covid.
This driving training project will serve dual purpose of increasing women’s safety in public transportation and providing livelihoods to women in need,” he explained.
To fund this project and also various planned vocational courses, MCSU has held an exhibition of two days from Friday at the opposite place to Lake Sursagar.
“The ‘Urja 2021’ exhibition is a fundraising for MCsu which is now through a makeover and stepped into a new age.
We plan to introduce contemporary courses including English language, on household machines operating and geriatric treatments for women,” added Radhikaraje.
MCSU core committee members, Hema Chauhan said craftsmen from various parts of the country would display their handmade products at the exhibition.
