Kanpur: Chaos wins and people thronged the site after the pitcher filled with ancient coins found during the excavation work for road widening GT in Raipur village in the area Sikandarpur in Chhibramau police station limits on Monday evening.
Local sources added that the driver of the bulldozer and trucks, which carry out digging work allegedly fled with a pitcher containing ancient coins.
“While fleeing, some coins that fall out of the jug collected by villagers.
As soon as the news spread in the area, people submit the site and start searching for coins in the dig site,” added the source.
Then, the archeology department notified and district officials and police started an investigation.
Police are now looking for a bulldozer and truck drivers have also been seized coins were found from the villagers.

HR Chhibramau Devesh Kumar Gupta said that the investigation into this case is ongoing.
“We have sent a team of revenue departments including Tehsildar into place.” Meanwhile Tehsildar Abhimanyu Kumar told reporters that after checking out the place, an investigation will be conducted by the department of archeology.
“A clear picture will emerge only after a thorough investigation,” he said.
