New Delhi: The central government on Tuesday pointed at Pyush Goyal, Minister of Union Comparison and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Textiles, as Sherpa India for the G20, said a statement of the Ministry of External Affairs.
Goyal replaced the former Suresh Prabhu Union Minister.
Sherpa for the G20 meeting conducted a foundation for their leaders and gave important policy inputs.
The G20 is the main international grouping that unites 19 of the world’s main economies and the European Union, with its members taking into account more than 80% of Global GDP, 75% of global trade and 60% of the global population.
India will hold a G20 presidency from December 1, 2022 and will hold a summit of the G20 leader in 2023 for the first time, he added.
