Chandigarh: BJP legislator SUV was burned inside Haryana MLA High security Hostel in Sector 3 at the early hours of Wednesday, rubbing police claims that increased during hours late at night.
This site is only 100 meters from the police station and within a 1 km radius from the official residence of the Punjab head minister and Haryana.
At 12:30 a.m., security personnel were deployed in this area watching the Toyota Fortuner from Promod VIJ, Panipat Mla, swallowed fire.
The front of the vehicle was destroyed when firefighters put out the fire.
Vij, who reached the place, said some cars were parked but only the vehicle was targeted.
“This shows someone deliberately burning my vehicle,” Vij said, added he had no hostility with anyone in the city and also in Panipat.
The source said some people destroy the SUV panel window at 11:30, activate the security alarm.
The defendant escaped but returned after a while.
They poured several flammable materials on the vehicle and burned it, said the source.
Recordings from CCTV cameras show someone who moves away when the vehicle is burning.
The police said they scan recorded.
Chararjit Singh, DSP (Central Division), said a case was registered against an unknown person.
“We have got some vital direction and the defendant will soon be arrested,” he said.
The police are estimated to be security and increased patrol after the incident that comes as a big shame against style.
