New Delhi: North Delhi Municipal Corporation has planned to establish 50 electric vehicle charging stations for the next six months.
A senior official said the initial agreement for six sites had been given to three companies.
Announced earlier this year, the Delhi government’s electric vehicle policy aims to register around 5 Lakh vehicles in the next five years, but support infrastructure, such as the battery charging point, is needed to instill confidence.
North Corporation will get the inside of the income generated from these stations and will not get a fixed amount as a rental.
This problem has been listed for discussion at a fixed committee meeting on Friday.
The agreement carried out between the corporation and the company in January 2020 has a fixed cost of collecting a fixed fee of RS 2,000 as a rental for a single car room.
This is opposed by the company.
In March 2021, Delhi Municipal Corporation has approved the company’s proposal, which is likely to be adopted by the North Corporation as well.
Rajesh Goyal, Deputy Commissioner of the North Corporation, said the proposal would likely be given green light.
“The work will begin after the committee stands approving the proposal.
For now, we have provided anticipatory approval for six sites,” he added.
Limited Energy Efficiency Services, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) and Indian Broadcasting Engineering Consultants Ltd have demonstrated interest in providing filling stations.
“We usually charge Rs 14-18 per unit of electricity to charge the battery.
We have been given two sites where the work will begin in the next week,” said an official from TPDDL.
“The company conducts a survey of all parking lots under the northern corporate jurisdiction.
They show interest in preparing charging stations around 80 lots,” said Goyal.
Jogi Ram Jain, Chairperson of the North Corporate Standard Committee, said, “The proposal for discussions in the permanent committee and change is being considered.”
