First of the TPA project both to cost RS 37 Crore
Municipal Corporation has compiled a separate proposal to provide bioremediation measures at the Bellahalli TPA which was recently closed in North Bengaluru.

An official said the project was considered to control methane emissions and avoid fires.
What was sued by Bruhat Bengaluru Mahangara (BBMP) to be done was to extract gas from the dump page in an effort to stop air pollution and foul odor.
The first of its kind in the city, this project is estimated to cost Rs 37 Crore.
However, there is no waste to be restored, TPA cannot be reclaimed as part of the project.
Earlier this week, city corporations floated tenders for supply, installation, commissioning and construction, and project maintenance.
Successful bidders get three years to complete work and six more years to maintain the same thing.
According to officials, around 19 lakh tons of mixed waste was said to have been dumped in the 22-acre mines recently as 2019.
BBMP, which has prepared a detailed project report (DPR), emerged with a bioremediation proposal which cites the rules of solid waste management, 2016 and the norms of Karnataka state pollution control (KSPCB).
Sarfaraz Khan, Commissioner with the BBMP solid waste management division, said this project would help stop further degradation from the environment and groundwater contamination.
“We will be able to fully stabilize the place and use the area for completely new purposes.
This is the first time we try bioremediation,” he said.
What is bioremediation?
Bioremediation, people in knowledge say, different from biomining.
While bioremediation is used to get rid of the foul odor from active landfill, biomining helps in reclaiming landfill through composting and recyclable waste recovery.
Experts have the view that bioremediation is not the best solution but can be chosen only if TPA does not have a house or water nearby.
Some say they will not be able to comment on the project without through the detailed technology used.
They urged BBMP to upload the DPR in the public domain for feedback.
“Bellahalli is one of the latest dump yards in the city.
First of all, the BBMP should send mixed waste to the processing factory instead of transporting it to the landfill,” Pushkar SV from the Indian Human Residential Institute, said Bengaluru.
“Leaving it as it can cause a fire.
What needs to be done is to open the TPA, restore the recyclable waste and make another composting,” he explained.
