Coimbatore: Head of Minister M K Stalin will receive a call to refer to the flyover or road in Coimbatore after Freedom Fighter V O Chidambaram Pillai, Food Minister and Civil Equipment R Sakkarapani says here on Sunday.
The minister visited the Ceimbatore Center prison to commemorate the 150-year anniversary of Pillai and paid a tribute in front of his portrait and for the oil press he was tethered.
“The birthday of Pillai’s birth is celebrated as a function of the government throughout the state to educate the younger generation about him.
The state government will install a Pillai statue of the size of the Voc Park here,” said Sakkarapani.
The Minister also marks the TNSTC bus that displays Pilla’s photographs.
Vehicles will be taken to schools and colleges to educate the younger generation.
Coimbatore South MLA Vanathi Srinivasan, Collector G S Seseepan, corporate commissioner King Gopal Sunkara, DIRI Galian G Shanmuga Sundaram and prison supervisor G B Senthamarikannan also paid Floral wages to Freedom Fighter.
