Plan to establish three new fish markets, modernizing four that already existed in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Department of Fisheries and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been holding hands to build at least three new modern fish markets in the city and modernize four that are already here.
Previously, the fisheries department had written a letter to BMC to prepare detailed project reports and to identify the plot for the new fish market.
Both the Fisheries Department and BMC officials also conducted a preliminary survey in this matter.
This project will be funded by the Fisheries Department.
The additional Commissioner BMC Laxmikant Setyi said they had visited Unit-IV, Rasulgarh and Badagada to find suitable land and to see the existing fish market conditions, messy.
“Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the fish market is very important.
In addition, there must be a basic facility for vendors and customers.
The market must have a water supply without interruption.
The right drainage system and waste disposal are two other important components of a modern fish market in addition to space Walk enough for buyers, “he added.
Apart from the permanent fish market building that requires a major overhaul, there is a market where vendors continue to change their location causing large inconvenience.
Jayadev Vihar Square along the Crown Hotel Road witnessed hundreds of fish vendors sitting under the tree.
During a pandemic, they must change many locations to prevent the crowd and ensure that physical distance is maintained.
It’s a separate market, which has been running for years along the way.
BMC officials said they would request the General Administration Department (GA) to provide the appropriate plot for the setting of the proposed fish retail outlet.
