Plans for Boating Ambazari Taman Operators, Floating Restaurants on the Lake; Opposing NGOs

Nagpur: Another project that will endanger the greenness and aquatic life in this city is in the pipeline as a private operator of Taman Ambazari – Taman Amusements Garuda (Nagpur) Private Limited – has proposed to start boating and floating restaurants on Lake Ambazari.
Although the state government or Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), which has water, has not given permission, NGOs numbered plans as a threat to flora and fauna inside and around the lake.
Toi has been on August 11 reporting how the operator failed to start a development job despite garden ownership for 20 months but made the park closed for morning and afternoon pedestrians for a long time.
Also, how the Corporation of Maharashtra Tourism Development (MTDC) closed the eye for this and did not take action against the operator.
On July 3, 2017, the government has rented a garden, spread at 42.85 hectares, to MTDC and directed NMC to hand over ownership.
The government has not rented a lake to MTDC.
The director of Garuda Pravin Jain’s amusement, in a press release sent to Toi, said, “We plan to start boating and floating restaurants on the lake.” Other Direct Narendra Jichkar said, “Boating was allowed on the lake a few years ago.
At present, there are no boating facilities in the city.
Park will be rebuilt into a tourism project.
Restaurant boating and floating will add to the attraction.
We will look for permissions needed from The Department of Water Resources.
“NL Sawarkar from Nif Jan Samasya Nivaran MANSM said any activity on the lake was shocked.
“Everyone oppose the rebuilding of the park.
A large number of people use parks for fitness and recreation.
There is a need to facilitate more facilities other than increasing existing.
No need for lawn and commercial activities in the garden,” he said.
“If the operator is successful in his plan, the lake will also be affected.
The government must cancel the rent to MTDC and hand the park to NMC or Nit,” he said.
Activists Joseph George said the boating and floating restaurant would violate guidelines relating to forest reserves, conservation of wetlands and water bodies.
“Lake and Ambazari Park are known for birds migrating and rich flora.
Every commercial activity in the garden and lake will fully interfere with existing ecosystems.
Some people with personal interests targeting all open spaces, gardens, lakes and green rooms in the city.
We headed Bulk concrete forest, “he said.
A NMC official confirmed that no permission was given to start a boating or floating restaurant on the lake.
Jain said the entire project would be completed in 2023.
“We will provide free morning pedestrians.
The plan is to develop a new path along with a cycling line,” he said.
Jichkar said all the facilities listed by MTDC will be completed within two years.
“We will tap the source of income for investment recovery after developing a park.
Our target is first giving a tourism place that is fun for the people,” he said.
Western Nagpur Mla Vikas Thakre has ensured the reopening of the park for morning pedestrians.
On his request, Nit has asked MTDC to hand over the park for it.
