Bicholim: After the water supply from Tillari’s reservoir to Goa was cut off, farmers from Pernem, Bicholim and Bardez area such as Sal and Ibringsur were very affected.
Farmers here have started working to start the cultivation of winter and cut-off plants have come as a further blow because the water supply will not be restored soon, because repair work in the manseri has stopped.
Two days after the canal on the edge of the left river Tillari Burst on October 21, repair work has been taken using excavators.
But on Thursday, the joint meeting of the Tillari Irrigation Authority was held together with the locals, where, it was decided to stop the repair work and to continue only after carrying out the right inspection of all Tillari Dam areas.
This decision was taken because the frequent cases of canal paintings have been reported in recent years.
Officials from Maharashtra have decided to find out the quality of work and plan future actions to ensure the right water supply to Goa and Maharashtra border villages.
The decision came after the local residents who were angry from Maneri and surrounding areas stopped the work of canal repairs and told the authority to make improvements only after the site’s examination was completed.
Because of this development, the preparation of farmers’ preparations on the cave border used to grow winter plants has been greatly affected.
Meanwhile there was no inspection of the Tillari irrigation irrigation project area taken by Maharashtra officials as promised and local residents accused officials to be good with contractors.
Local residents believe that poor maintenance at Maharashtra-end network supply Tillari causes frequencies to explode in the canal.
It affects drinking water supply to Bardez, Bicholim and Pernem Talukas.
It can be remembered that on October 21, the main left canal of the Tillari irrigation project that supplies water to the ASSONORA water treatment plant in North Goa has exploded.
Agriculture from the Maneri and surrounding areas is flooded with water encouraging Maharashtra partners from the Tillari irrigation project to cut water supply throughout North Goa.
