Plastic Prohibition: Center for Finding Compliance Reports from Chandigarh

Chandigarh: The Government Government has been looking for reports from the UT government about compliance with plastic prohibitions in the city.
In January, UT had asked for a report and several departments had not sent their reports.
The source revealed that UT will soon send a report to the Center and also to the National Green Tribunal (NGT).
Because the Pollution Control Agency NGT and Center (CPCB) oversees the disposal of plastic and waste items, Chandigarh administration in 2019 has told plastic prohibitions in the city.

After obtaining approval from the Governor of Punjab-cum-UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore, it has issued a final notice to ban all plastic products using once.
In July 2019, UT has published the concept of notification and look for advice and objections from the public in 60 days.
The Committee has received around 32 objections, including from different population welfare associations, traders and industrialist organizations.
The administration has taken steps after NGT directing it to submit the action plan at a systematic plastic waste disposal.
NGT has ordered that everyone found using, saving, buying, handling or distributing plastic bags, plastic plates or plastic glasses and allied items will be responsible for paying environmental compensation at the RS 5,000 level per event.
Violators can face 5-yr jaillaccording to the September 2019 notification, no one, including shop owners, vendors, all sellers or retailers, will produce, store imports, sell transportation, supply or use a polylic / plastic jinjing bag.
Violations will be punished by prison, which can be expanded to five years with a fine of RS 1 Lakh or both.
Supply of power / water to take part 5 of the Environmental Law (Protection), 1986, every person / industry that causes violations of prohibitions, can face termination or electricity supply regulations or other water.
