Coimbatore: Plastic bags use a single, which has been banned by the State Government in January 2019, is being used openly by traders in the city with a civic body left by a mute audience.
It should be noted that City Corporation is entrusted with the task of enforcing a ban when it comes in valid more than two years ago.

“We used to offer fabric bags, but our customers don’t want to pay extra for it.
So, we are forced to use a single plastic bag again.” A health official with City Corporation said they checked the use of drug bags every time they checked the store to ensure compliance against the Covid-19 protocol.
“More important will be given to enforcement of plastic prohibitions in the coming days.”
