New Delhi: Wrestler India Ravi Dahiya is now one win away from creating history.
The wrestler from Nahri Village, in Sonipat Regency, Haryana, has convinced himself and the country from at least a silver medal, after he stormed into the Final of the Freestyle 57kg Putra, registering a thrilling victory over Nurislam Sanayev from Kazakhstan.
Ravi only became the second Indian wrestler who qualified for the final at the Olympics.
Before Ravi, Sushil Kumar, who had a bronze medal and silver for his name at the Olympics, was the only Indian to enter the final (2012).
Two Olympic medals entered the 2012 London match final but had to be satisfied with silver.
Ravi will now face Zaur Uguev from the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) in a gold medal match.
Uguev, who was a world champion twice, defeated Reza Atrinagharchi Reza Iran to enter the final.
Ravi has faced Uguev before – in the 2019 World Championship and lost him.
Senior wrestler and experienced Ravi Amit Dahiya attended the world championship fight between Ravi and Uguev carefully and said Ravi had succeeded in tiring Uguev in the fight but failed to play the mind game against him.
Ravi has won a bronze medal in the 2019 World Championship, which was held at Nur Sultan.
“Uguev is a very strong and difficult to defeat.
Ravi plays very well at the World Championship.
Ravi managed to make him tired of not giving a single opportunity.
My only advice for Ravi spent as much time as possible.
