Nagpur: The policy to bring a field of playing further levels for domestic players to foreign entities that deal with defense items is being worked on, according to Sanjay Jaju, additional secretaries for defense production.
It will also handle the trial aspects needed to clean items.
Subject to cabinet approval, it is expected to be included in the defense procurement policy.
“The decision about this is expected in a short time,” the Jaju said here to lead the seminar on MSME participation in the defense sector.
It was held by Vidarbha Defense Industrial Association (VDIA) and JSR Dynamics.
Jaju said it was easier for foreign vendors to sell a product in India.
“For the same item, it’s like baptism by fire for Indian manufacturers.
If a foreign producer, often the base is that the product has been established in this country.
Do we really go and see? If it is an Indian entity, the product can be proven on Some parameters, “he said.
A number of steps have been taken to encourage the Indian industry.
“More than 200 items have been included in the no-import list.
This includes even artillery weapons that leave great slices for Indian companies,” Jaju said.
The jeparation emphasizes better coordination between the armed forces to issue a product.
“The army provides certain requirements and when the manufacturer appears with an item, it is often said that it is not in line with the specifications.
The question is why there are no corrective actions taken during the development process,” he asked.
Air Vice Marshall (Retd) SB Deo, is now running the defense industry after retiring as Deputy Head of IAF, said Nagpur appeared as a “explosive capital” of the country.
LT General (RETD) Vinod Kharahe, who recently retired as a military advisor to the National Security Council, also emphasized the need to promote the private industry.
Citing an example of one of the actions in which he participated in, Kharahare said, “From the 500 m36 lobbed grenade, around 400 did not explode.
The army had used World War II grenades.
Finally it will be replaced with the latest multimode grenade.
The soldiers will be grateful for that.
“The Nagpur solar group gets an order to make 10 lakh multimode grenades for the army.
