Playing in a high pressure situation at IPL has helped Curran: Thorpe

LONDON: Play in the Indian Premier League where he is exposed to a high-pressure situation has improved white ball skills Sam Curran, according to head coach standing in England, Graham Thorpe.
The 23-year-old children, who played for Mahendra Singh Dhoni-Led Chennai Super Kings, placed a Fifer (5/48) against Sri Lanka in Odi Second on Thursday to help England to win.
“I think it (IPL) helped him very,” Thorpe was quoted with ‘espncricinfo’.
“Every Sam environment has gone, he shows that the ability to compete and the ability to find a way of putting a show.
From that perspective, playing in the IPL has placed it in a situation pressed and pushed it.” Bought by CSK at the 2020 auction, Curran has become a cog vital in the scheme of things, with captain Dhoni entrusting it with bats and balls during an important age.
“The ability to hit it with bats is always there.
I think it developed to a very good level,” Thorpe said.
“He bowling at important times at the IPL, so he was emphasized and challenged.
At the age of 23, he got some very good experience.” Thorpe, who has taken over the ODI series that is taking place in the UK against Sri Lanka in the absence of Chris Silverwood’s head coach, feeling Curran is a “real competitor”, which improves every day.
“When he returned and played with England, he had to challenge somewhere so he was pressed there too,” Thorpe said.
“It’s not a bad thing.
One of the great traits of his personality is that he is a real competitor.
We have seen it since he was young, and his level of expertise rose.
For the 23-year-old child it is good place to be.
We want him to continue to be Better and better.
“However, Thorpe felt that the biggest challenge for Curran, who had played 21 tests, 10 ODIS and 16 T20IS since his debut in 2018, would balance the three formats and stirred consistent appearance for the national team.
“Of course, he still has to work very hard.
The T20 cricket has grown very well, but I think building himself as a 50-over player is also a very important part.
He must try and be in the mixture.
Also for the cricket test .
“It sounds like cricket.
As you know, with someone like Ben Stokes, the number of jobs and the fitness level needed for it is great.
“So the challenge for Sam into a multi-format cricketer provides that consistency also for English time and time again.”
