Please in SC seek signal language translator in the government press briefing

New Delhi: A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking direction to the center and the state government to provide signal language translators in all official press briefings carried out by the government.
Litigation of Public Interest (PIL), submitted by activists Rights of Disability and Advocates M Karpagam, states that all press briefing held in India cannot be accessed or accessible.
This argues that despite the fact that this press briefing serves as an important way to create awareness and education for the general public about various developments in this country.
The petition was sought that the official press direction conducted by the Prime Minister, the other ministers from the Workers Government, the Chief Minister of the Minister of State and Ministers from the State Government, must provide “signal language translators”, according to.
The rights of persons with disabilities, 2016.
It is said that sign language is a bridge that connects others to those who experience hearing loss or verbal defects.
The request states, “For people with hearing loss, access to sign language is the key to break down communication barriers and participate in society like others.” In connection with Pandemic Covid-19, Prime Minister, Minister of Health and Health Secretary have a daily presence on television, said the application, adding that all this news briefing does not provide signal language translators in the frame even during the peak of a pandemic where information is very important.
Applications argue that countries around the world, including the United States and the UK consistently hold it necessary to provide signal language translators in frames during press pants, especially during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Karpagam said he interacted with many hearing disabled people and they had stated difficulties in understanding news briefings carried out by the central and various government countries.
The absence of signal language translators in such situations hampered imposed access to the government’s program or benefits, thus giving them to be treated in a “unfair” way and establishing a lack of significant access to programs and / or benefits.
, said the petition.
