Kolkata: With the Tollywood exhibition industry finally see signs of revival, the new plex was launched in Bengal.
Some of them are located in a mall that is rebuilt from a single screen theater.
What further given incentives to investors is the command of the new country government that allows the cinema to run with 70% occupancy.
Chairman of the Exhibitors’ Participants from the East India Motion (Eimpa) Image Association (Eimpa) Ratan Saha told the Toi that the collection of ‘poison: let there be a slaughter’ and ‘Golitaryaj’ was good.
“I want to personally share with the chairman of our minister Roadmap to revive our exhibition industry.
Investment will be ours but credit for success will go to the Bengal brand,” Saha said.
He has invested Rs 20 Crore in 17 properties throughout Bengal, each of which will have two screens.
“I convert Kalna’s Joy Maa Cinema, Cinema Chitra Bolpur and Calurghat’s Sandhya Cinema into two screens,” he said.
Milan Cinema in Chinsurah converted to KPS Mall with three screens by Arijit Saha in 2021.
“Our family has three single screens in Bengal.
We have started exploring the wise conversion option to the mall that has several screens,” he said.
In Panchami, SVF Cinemas launched its plexion in Dhaniakhali and Durgapur.
“We have invested more than Rs 4 Crore to become multiplex operators in the mall,” said Rudra Prosad Daw, Head of Business, SVF cinema.
Cinema Rupbani in Dhaniakhali is changed by KPS Group where SVF Cinemas is a multiplex operator with one screen.
“In Durgapur, the MOKANI group reconstructed one screen titled Anuradha Cinemas to build Mall Raj Sammiloney Shopping where SVF operates with three new screens that have 416 seats.
In Saptami, three screens with 367 seats inaugurated at the KPS Mall.
In pipes are two screens Coochbehar, two in Kalna, one in sterses and one in Malda, “added Daw.
Shouthouse Shoutiu Shantanu Roychowdhury is converted into a two-screen plex in 2018.
“Some previous hall owners including Supen Naskar (Ellora cinema) and Amar Chakraborty (Mahamaya Cinema) were converted to a two-screen format.
In 2021, conversion was the only way for the cinema.

During a pandemic, Chiranjit Saha, who converted Sangam Kalyani cinema became a two-screen format in 2013, adding an extra screen.
“Recently, I acquired Cinema Jyoti Chandernagore and plan to turn it into two screens,” he said.
SAYASACHI NATH, owner of Cinema Debjani Bashirhat, is investing around Rs 6 Crore to make a mall that will have two screens (rent to Saha).
“Instead of 1,051 seats, the screen will have a capacity of 300.
We must be able to reopen the next puzzle,” said Nath.
