Amsterdam: Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte on Friday said the government was considering raising social distance rules on September 20 as Covid-19 cases in the Netherlands.
In the week ended August 10, cases fell 14% in the Netherlands to 103 per 100,000 residents, the National Institute for Health (RIVM) was found.
However, Rutte said some pandemic restrictions were still needed for now, including keeping the nightclubs and restaurants closed after midnight.
Efforts to lift most limits, including in nightlife, on June 26 must be canceled two weeks later after cases in young adults soar.
“The beginning of summer taught us that we really have to be careful,” Rutte said.
But he said the college would be left back at the end of August without students being asked to observe social distance rules in class.
About two-thirds of the Dutch people aged 16 years and above were fully vaccinated, and 90% said they had or planned to have a vaccine.
