Varanasi: Mumtaz Ali and Sadab Alam, both Kashi’s main craftsmen, has prepared a beautiful prize – ‘Angvastram’ (stealing) Zardozi’s work for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who visited his parliamentary constituency on October 25.
Steal describes insignia from Shiva temple made with gold on a mixture of cotton-cotton mixtures.
Ganga water is also described adjacent to the temple.
At the top of the temple, Kashi was embroidered in thick golden thread.
“It took a week to finish stealing,” Mumtaz said, who also made a steal with Rudraksh for PM when he visited this city before for the inauguration of Rudraksh International Convention Center.
“We are happy to make artifacts for PM,” he said.
Both the craftsmen are residents of Lallapura Locality.
Banaras Zardozi recently joined the Elite Club of Geographical Indication (GI).
Curi is prepared under the direction of GI experts Dr.
Rajni Kant from human welfare associations.
“Curi was handed over to the district government to be presented to PM on his arrival,” Kant said.
According to Kant, Zardozi is a heavy and more complicated embroidery work that uses gold thread varieties, spangles, beads, seed pearls, wire and a Gota.
It is used to beautify wedding clothes, heavy coats, pillows, curtains, canopies, animal trap, bags, wallets, belts, and shoes.
Material where this kind of embroidery is usually thick silk, velvet and satin.
Zardozi embroidery developed rapidly during the Mughal era and was believed to have been introduced to India from Persia.
