New Delhi: Congress on Sunday accused PM Narendra Modi using his independence day speech to make announcements without ever participating in them.
Opposition leader Malikarjun Kharge said for seven years India had listened to “the same speech” by PM without being harmed, including small farmers.
“He announced a new scheme, but this was never applied or seen on the ground.
And now, carrying three new agricultural laws, he spelled a disaster for the farmers,” he said.
Kharge also took the exception to PM targeting the previous regime about smallholder and development issues, said the country would not develop by criticizing the congress from the red fortress again and again.
“Congress has done a lot of work such as providing an irrigation system for farmers.
Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi let go of farmers’ debt when UPA in power,” he said.
Sitaram’s Chief Yechury Sitaram said PM failed to offer guarantees in the Covid situation or a vaccine shortage.
Congress Communication Head Randeep Surjewala also swiped PM for his announcement about the investment of Rs 100 Lakh Crore in the infrastructure sector, by saying this was just a repetition of what was announced in 2019.
