PM Johnson calls rich countries to fulfill the $ 100 billion climate promise

LONDON: British Prime Minister Boris Johnson called on Monday for rich countries to fulfill the promise to spend $ 100 billion a year to overcome climate change when he prepares to hold the UN KTT starting at the end of October.
Johnson and UN Secretary General António Guterres will hold a round table of world leaders on Monday to get wealthy countries to provide promises that have not been fulfilled, made in 2009.
“Nations Richer has reaped the benefits of unmatched pollution for generations, often At the expense of developing countries, “Johnson said in a statement.
“When these countries are now trying to grow their economy in a clean, green and sustainable way.
We have an obligation to support them in doing it – with our technology, with our expertise and with the money we promised.” A report released on Friday by organizations for economic cooperation and development said that rich countries might miss the objectives to contribute $ 100 billion last year to help develop countries about climate change after increasing funds of 2% in 2019.
The UN analysis of the state promise based on the Paris Climate Agreement released last week said that under the current national appointment, global emissions will be 16% higher by 2030 than in 2010 – far from reduction of 45% by 2030 needed by scientists to prevent it.
Disaster climate change.
Without more ambitious commitment, global temperatures can reach 2.7C above the pre-industrial level at the end of this century, the UN said.
