LONDON: Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Friday Britain will work with the Taliban if necessary after militants arrest Afghanistan, and defend his foreign minister who has burned the situation.
“What I want to assure people is our political and diplomatic efforts to find a solution for Afghanistan, working with the Taliban, of course if necessary, it will take place,” Johnson told the media.
Johnson said the situation at Kabul Airport, where thousands of Afghans were desperate resembling exodus from the country, the more “better”.
The British government said he had secured 1,615 evacuations since Saturday, including 399 British citizens and their dependents, 320 embassy staff and 402 Afghans.
Asked whether he still had confidence in the foreign secretary Dominic Raab who had faced a call to resignation from his opponent to his response to the crisis, he said: “Really”.
