New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched several Hydel projects worth the combined investment RS 11,000 Crore at Himachal Pradesh, including one to facilitate Delhi’s water tribulation, which hung fires for three decades.
The biggest of these projects is the Renuak RS 7,000-crore project, which will also combine Hydel 40 Megawatt (MW) based on storage, on the Giri River – one of the Yamuna River children – in Sirmour Regency.
This project failed to take off for almost 30 years after being conceptualized because of differences in sharing water and costs between Himachal, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Delhi.
After completion, the project will increase Delhi’s annual water supply of 500 million cubic meters.
In accordance with the agreement signed in January 2019, the Delhi Government has agreed to bear 90% of the cost of power components from the project and the 10% balance must be borne by Himachal.
This project has been given a national project status, which imagines the center will bear 90% of the dam component (water), while the balance must be distributed by all regions of the basin in the ratio of water allocation in accordance with the acquisition of water.

The next big project to be launched is RS 1,800 Crore Luhri Phase-I in Satluj River with a capacity of producing 210 MW is estimated to pump 758 million units of electricity per year.
This project will help stabilize the northern network and also add Delhi supply.
PM also dedicated to Nation The RS 2,080-Crore Sawra-Kuddu Hydel Project with a capacity of 111 MW, which is estimated to produce 380 million units of electricity per year and help the state get annual income of Rs 120 Crore.
Other projects to be launched are DHAILIDH projects, the first Hydel project in the Hamirpur district.
The 66 MW project will be built at a cost of more than Rs 680 Crore and leads to a generation of more than 300 million electricity units per year.
These projects are part of the central plan to develop 26,000 MW hydropower projects in 2030 with the aim of taking the calculation of green force in the overall supply of up to 50%.
More than 9,000 MW large hydropower projects are being built today.
In March last year, the hydroelectric capacity of the Indian installed utility scale was 46,000 MW, or 12.3% of the total capacity of the state utility power plant.
