NEW DELHI: In his speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday made three main announcements about Covid Indian vaccination drives amid increasing threats posed by the omicron variant which highly translined.

– Starting January 3, 2022, children in the age group 15-18 will be eligible for Covid vaccination.
At present, only those aged 18 years and over are permitted to vaccinate.
– From January 10, 2022, all health care workers and the forefront will be eligible to obtain a “prevention dose” or the third vulcine amplifier dose.
– From January 10, those aged 60+ with comorbidity can also obtain a preventive dose of recommendations from their doctors.
The government’s decision to expand ambit vaccination and allow the dose of the third booster for certain groups coming when the Omicron Covid variant has spread at a fast speed throughout the world.
Some countries, including the US and Britain, have allowed the dose of the third vaccine booster for their citizens.
In India, more than 450 cases of variants, which are said to avoid vaccine protection, have been detected so far.
During his speech, the prime minister urged people not to panic amid the threat of omicrons, remain cautious and follow all Covid norms such as wearing masks and maintaining social distance.
India reported 7,189 new Covid-19 cases on Saturdays and 387 deaths.
