Rome: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in the Vatican City on Saturday to meet Pope Francis ahead of the highly anticipated group of 20 (G20).
PM Modi was accompanied by the National Security Advisor (NSA) Minister Ajit Doval and External (EAM) Dr.
S Jaishankar.
The Vatican is a city country surrounded by Rome and is the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church.
While the briefing about the involvement of Prime Minister in Italy, the foreign secretary of Harsh Vardhan Shringla on Friday said that there was no agenda set for meetings between PM Modi and Pope.
Prime Minister arrived in Italy on Friday to participate in the two-day G20 summit.
This summit will be the peak of the Eighth G20 which was attended by the Prime Minister.
PM Modi today is scheduled to hold a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron and a meeting with Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
PM Modi is expected to have a meeting with Singapore PM Lee Hosein Loong too.
At night, PM is scheduled to arrive at Terme in Diocleziano for cultural programs.
Then, there are dinner planned for G20 leaders and partner countries.
Shringla on Friday said that the Prime Minister Modi will discuss the global economic situation, Covid-19 Pandemi, sustainable development and climate change with the leaders of the G20.
On Friday, PM Modi met with the top European Union leaders and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi.
They congratulated the Modi Prime Minister for excellent Indian progress in Covid-19 vaccination.
The Prime Minister also interacts with Indian community members based in Italy and those who have close relations with India through balls such as academics.
PM Modi will be in the capital of Italy until October 31.
