Chennai: People for Ethical Animal Treatment (map) India have written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who requested that part of the 28-prevention of atrocities against the Animal Law (PCA), 1960, which allows every animal to be killed in any way for religion, deleted.
The letter was sent before Eid al-Fitr al-Adha, which fell on July 20 and 21, when thousands of goats, sheep, and other animals were sacrificed in the country.
The central government is currently in the process of changing PCA actions, and, in April, Indian maps have submitted its recommendations to the Indian animal welfare council (AWII), which includes recommending a ban on animal sacrifices.
Indian maps say the release given for animal sacrifice is contrary to the purpose of PCA’s actions, because it causes unnecessary pain and suffering for animals and is outdated in modern society.
“Just as human sacrifice is now treated as murder, when India started a space mission, ancient practice of animal sacrifices must be treated as a cruelty that can be punished.
We begged Hon’ble Modi Ji to end animal sacrifices in this country,” said Chief Executive Map India Dr.
Manilal Valliiyate.
“Many people are involved in sacrifice by distributing wealth, clothing, or fruits, without damaging animals.” The Indian map has also written to the Director General of the National Police of the State Government and the United States and AWIs, urging them to take precautions to stop illegal practices in transportation and murder of animals in the lead for Eid al-Fitr Adha.
Animal sacrifices in this country involve various species, including sheep, goats, buffaloes, chickens, pigs, deer, foxes, owls, and others.
Terrible practices include cutting down, turning animal necks, attacking them with sharp instruments, destroying or even biting them to death, and slitting their throat while they are fully conscious.
Although PCA’s actions provide an exception to animal sacrifice, such practices often stand contrary to wildlife protection laws, in 1972, which protect native wild species from hunting and capturing.
Gujarat, Kerala, Puducherry, and Rajasthan already have laws that prohibit any animal religion sacrifices in any temple or office.
Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana forbade it in every place of worship or religious or regional worship or in the congregation or procession connected with religious worship on public roads.
