New Delhi: With the case of omicron growing rapidly in this country, PM Narendra Modi has called for a high-level meeting on Thursday to review the Covid-19 situation.
A total of 213 cases infected with the Omicron variant of SARS-COV2 were detected through the Sample Genome sequencing until Wednesday morning, according to the Ministry of Health data.
Delhi recorded a maximum of 57 cases, followed by Maharashtra in 54.
Telangana (24), Karnataka (19), Rajasthan (18), Kerala (15) and Gujarat (14) also recorded a large number of samples infected with Omicron.
Overall, 15 countries have reported the Omicron case.
Omicron immediately updated 213 cases, 90 has recovered so far.
The Ministry of Health has warned the state and the United States of the indication of a fresh surge powered by Omicron, which was found at least three times more contagious than Delta variants.
In a letter to the countries and the union area, the center has asked local authorities to bring back restrictions including night hours, strict restrictions at large meetings, limiting the number of marriages and funerals, limiting the number of offices and public transportation.
